Eva Bakalar is a contemporary mixed-media artist, and a freelance textile artist, who lives and works in Vienna. Her art-work, installations and mixed media pieces reflect her personal aesthetics and her sense of colours. She studied art with Sepp Zöchling. Over the past two years the main focus of her work is on tapesteries, made of netting tubes, electric wire and other materials. She likes to turn everyday material into something new and entirely different. In this way "sustainability" is newly defined in a very artistic and personal sense.
Die Alltags-Werkstoffe, die Eva Bakalar verwendet, sind im Kunstkontext ungewöhnlich. Durch Kombination der Farben, Texturen und Strukturen wird die jeweilige ästhetische Qualität des Materials sichtbar und in eine neue Sichtweise gerückt. Wandteppiche aus bunten Netzschläuchen und Elektrodraht, Installationen aus Haushaltsschwämmen und Strumpfgeweben - der Begriff "Nachhaltigkeit" wird angesichts der Objekte von Bakalar neu definiert.
